A purple birthday wish

Here is the card I made for the PPA8.  I also made it for a co-worker for her birthday.  I have made it my personal goal to make a birthday card for every co-worker in our school.  I started in September and I think we have had 10 or so birthdays.  I need several for October too.  I have decided that whenever I participate in a challenge I will make a birthday card so hopefully I will have a stash built up again.  Plus, then I have to participate since the card is needed for work, right…:)  The purple background paper was in my stash.  I got it several years ago in one of the paper stacks for Christmas.  The flower like image is from a newer set of my by American Craft-clear stamp sentiments, which I am loving!  I stamped it several times across the white cs.  Our local HL is carrying them and there are several more sets that I wouldn’t mind picking up.  I stamped the image with Colorbox chalk wisteria.  It’s a petal point set, primary pastels.  The butterfly is from my bridgeport set by s.e.i.  I stamped the solid butterfly in blue and the detailed butterfly in the same purple again.  The blue is from Colorbox Paintbox chalk- ocean breeze and the color is ice blue.   The ribbon came from HL in their floral section.  I used my corner rounder for the white cs.  Then I used my 1 7/16 scallop punch on the purple cs from HL and my 1 1/4 circle punch on the butterfly.  This was a very quick and easy card to make.  What do you think, I ‘d love to hear your thoughts.  Thanks for looking and have a great Saturday.

PPA2 Challenge- She’s Expecting!

If you have not been to Stampin Pretty, you need to visit her blog. I love visiting Mary’s blog(http://www.stampinpretty.com/). She has great tips and ideas and for those of you addicted to Stampin’Up…she’s a demonstrator. She shipped me the new catalog when it came out and I am still going over it making my wish list. Rambling, sorry…when I was on her site she had a link to a challenge hosted by her and her SU team (http://www.palspaperarts.com/). I checked it out and it is a sketch this week. I liked the clean and simple look of it and decided to play. Here is my take on the challenge. It worked out perfect for me because I knew I wanted to make a card for one of Mark’s friends at work. What do you think? Feel free to leave a comment, thanks for looking and have a marvelous Monday :)

I decided to add the circle of paper to hide the seam where my ribbon ends meet up. I paper pieced the elephants ear and then drew white dots on the toe nails with my white Sakura Gelly Roll pen.

Materials used:

she’s expecting stamp- Kolette Hall for studio g, stazon timber brown ink, imaginisce snag em’s- birth announcement (the elephant), buttons were in my stash, ribbon by Offray, pink cs and the lined paper were from my scrap box pp by the Paper Studio, 1 3/4″ and 1 1/4″ circle punches, cutterpede scallop blade and adhesive.
