Give yourself a partial pedi…

So everyone I know is getting pedicures and fun designs on their big toes.  I decided to try it myself, using some of my crafting supplies.  I grabbed my Recollections sticky backed rhinestones and my embossing tool (see picture below) and got started.  Happy with how mine turned out I did my nieces toes when she was here last Friday.  I included images to show the process .

First grab your nail polish of choice and paint the toes.  Make sure they are completely dried before moving on to the next steps.  Delaney pick this shade of green because it matched the outfit she was wearing.

Pick your rhinestones out.  On mine I used clear but Delaney wanted pink.

Apply rhinestone to toe and hold there for a minute.  I was able to wear mine for a week (wearing sandals) before the rhinestones fell off.  Delaney’s didn’t stay on as long but she went to the pool for an entire afternoon.  I think I am going to try using a little nail glue to adhere them on next time.

Next, dip an end of your embossing tool into a contrasting color of polish.  We used white.  I dipped the smaller end into the brush a few times to get a skin on the metal ball.  Then I started putting dots around the rhinestone, forming the flower.  Here is a shot of the finished toe.

Once that was completely dry I went over the toes with a clear coat twice, giving plenty of time to dry in between coats.  Thanks for looking.  If you give yourself a partial pedi I’d love to see what you did!  Just leave a link in the comments section.  Make sure you scroll down I have added about 5 more blog updates.

Have a wonderful Wednesday,

Happy Anniversary and Taylored Expressions 118

My aunt and uncle celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this weekend.  They had everyone down to the river and it was lots of fun…hot but fun.  Their wedding colors were pale yellow so I made the card using pale yellow, black and a splash of blue.  I also used Fridays sketch challenge #118 at  Taylored Expressions.  I found this quote online and hand wrote it…thought it was fitting with the two birds and the fact that growing up I remember my uncle singing all the time.  I stamped the music notes background over and over again onto the yellow cs.

Next up is a tag I made for my mom and dad’s gift.  She went with the color ruby which signifies a 40th wedding anniversary.  She got them a bottle of red wine.  This is the tag I whipped up to go over the wine bottle neck.  I found this sentiment on the Internet too and thought it was fitting for a bottle of wine.  I wrote the sentiment on the paper.

Happy Birthday Cameron

I’m always looking for ways to be greener.  When our cousin’s sons birthday party was coming up, they said he was really into Legos.  It seems like you buy this huge box with only about a 1/4 being used to house the Legos.  Then over time the box breaks down and Legos are falling out everywhere.  I decided to pull out the sewing machine and stitch up this drawstring bag (that I learned how to make in middle school)for the Legos.  I put the box of Legos inside the bag (not knowing if he had this set already) and used the bag as the gift wrap and then explained that the Legos could be stored in there once opened, making it easier to take them with him to a friends’ house and such.  Next I whipped up a simple boy looking tag for the bag.  Both the Legos and the bag were a hit!

Wedding to do list

My cousin is getting married in October.  With all the details that go into planning a wedding I thought she could use a mini notebook to hold all of her to do’s in.  She is having a rainbow wedding and said that her favorite color is purple.  It;s hard to see in the picture but the scallop is punched from purple cs and the button is also purple.

Hope you’re up and buzzin’ about soon

Here’s a little basket I made a filled with Hershey’s nuggets.  My cousins fiance broke his ankle playing baseball a while back and I had whipped this up for him.
